"Valchi dol" reserve
Location: Krumovgrad
This is the only strict reserve in Kardzhali district. It was designated as protected in 1980 and in November 1993 categorized as a strict reserve with national significance. It encompasses area of 774.7 ha in the three Municipalities of Momchilgrad, Krumovgrad and Kardzhali. The reserve is located in the region of “Studen kladenec” dam on the land of Boinik village, Krumovgrad municipality. The scenery is very diverse with sub-mediterranean shrubs, forests, glasslands and rocks.

Abrasive wells, Studen kladenec village The rocks along Arda river valley are coulee from active volcanic activity millions years ago. Some of the craters were partially destroyed by the river waters. Nearby Studen kladenec village and close to the dam wall were formed big veins of quartz and chalcedone inclusions.
Ali bey’s Town Hall, Nanovitza village
Location: Momchilgrad
Ali bey’s Town Hall, Nanovitza village The place was built in 1851 by Ali Bei with whose name the local people associate the building. The rooms are with original carved wood and many of the corner supporting stones decorated. The house was meant for a resting house and follows the typical architecture of the XVIII-XIX century.
Ancient gold mines, Stremci village

Ancient gold mines, Stremci village The mines are known as “Inikler” cave. They are located around 200m leftwards on the road Kardzhali-Haskovo (through Stremci village) and after the microdam between the villages of Rani list and Stremci. They have few entrances that are connected underground. Along the slope of the hill could be seen vertical mine works that were probably air-holes used for ventilation.
Ancient roads
Location: Kirkovo
Ancient roads On the territory of Kirkovo municipality once passed one of the major roads leading to White Sea Thracia. Since ancient times till medieval ages, strategic roads passed through the area. They connected the Upper Thracian valley with the cities on the White Sea coast and the Mediterranean. Remains of those roads are preserved up to now and parts of them are still used in Schumnatica village around the three bridges.
