“Krivus” fortress near Bashevo village
“Krivus” fortress near Bashevo village The earliest data for the fortress are given by G. Acropolit in his”Annals”. The fortress is situated around 4km north of the village in an accessible place. The river surrounds the fortress on three sides. The citadel is located in the southern part. It is with sizes 50/40m with two well preserved entrances, towers, walls, embrasures and fighting arena. The wall is massive with width of 2.5m and 1.75m in the upper part. At some places the entire wall is preserved in its full height of 7m. The exterior of the fortress is one wall 1.75m wide and 170m long following the river bank. A well was found on the territory of the fortress that was probably filled by the river. Now it is covered up and hard to find. There are fragments of medieval pottery and a medieval necro-polis nearby. Note: The fortress is suitable for tourism and visible from far away. There are signs in the village, but the terrain is rough due to the grown-up bushes.
